This webinar shares the results of our recent Sydney University study, supervised by Dr. Bronwen Ackermann, Associate Professor and former editor of Medical Problems of Performing Artists. The study investigated the interaction between hand span, keyboard size and EMG activity in pianists. The results are relevant in the wider context of the conventional “one size fits all” piano keyboard, which puts most pianists at a disadvantage. Professor Carol Leone from SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts in Dallas, Texas, and the world’s leading academic in the field of alternatively sized keyboards, joins to participate in the Q & A portion at the end of the presentation.
