Dr. Carolyn True holds degrees from Central Missouri State University, the University of Maryland, and the Eastman School of Music, where she was also awarded the Performer’s Certificate. She joined the Music Department at Trinity University in 1990, and is currently Professor of Piano. She has distinguished herself as a national and international solo and collaborative artist, performing across the United States and in Italy, France, Taiwan, Austria, and India. She is a member of the Beckman-True Piano Duo, and the acclaimed SOLI Chamber Music ensemble. In 2010, Dr. True received the Dr. and Mrs. Z.T. Scott Faculty Fellowship for Teaching and Advising. In 2019 she was inducted into the Music Teachers National Association Fellows, the inaugural Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame, and was recognized for Outstanding Service to the field of Piano Pedagogy by the Frances Clark Center for Keyboard Pedagogy. She was the chairman of the jury for the Gina Bachauer International Junior piano competition and a member of both the preliminary and final juries for the Gurwitz International Piano Competition.
