The New School for Music Study

Located in Kingston, New Jersey, The New School for Music Study (NSMS) is a nationally recognized music school and a cornerstone of The Frances Clark Center’s mission. Established in 1960 by Frances Clark and Louise Goss, the school continues their vision of nurturing creativity, confidence, and a lifelong love of music study.

In 2025, NSMS celebrated its 65th anniversary, honoring its legacy while strengthening programs that support excellence in piano teaching and learning. The school reached record enrollment, serving more than four hundred students through private lessons, group classes, and local partnerships. Collaborations with organizations and senior living centers extended piano education beyond the classroom and enriched the region through music.

Through masterclasses and recitals, students are inspired to share their music and growth with others, continuing a legacy of artistry and personal development. Alumni are invited to connect and share their stories as part of this milestone celebration.

The faculty, representing eleven countries and leading conservatories, bring deep expertise and passion to their teaching. Their work nurtures artistry and self-expression in every student, from young beginners to adults rediscovering the piano later in life. The school remains committed to making piano education accessible for all through scholarships and community partnerships.

We are deeply grateful to the donors, families, and partners whose generosity sustains the work of NSMS and supports its mission to inspire lifelong engagement with music.

Students from The New School for Music Study share what “piano inspires” means to them.
