The Impact of The Piano Conference: NCKP Student Scholarship
In an interview with our 2025 scholarship recipients, we asked how The Piano Conference: NCKP has directly impacted or inspired them in their career.
“The Piano Conference: NCKP gave me courage to find my own personal voice. I am originally from Colombia, South America, and it has been now a main goal for me to expand the Colombian repertoire and to share my own heritage with students and with scholars, writing papers about Colombian music or teaching pieces for my little students that are from Colombia.” – Juan Avendano
“Piano has always been a love of mine. Being surrounded by so many people at NCKP who share that love fosters a spirit of collaboration and working together around something we all care deeply about.” – Nathaniel Maxwell
“[The Piano Conference: NCKP] has been so inspiring. It’s also a privilege to learn piano because I came from a different kind of background from a tiny village [where] it is almost impossible to have a piano lesson. Especially in Indonesia, it’s still in the nascent stage to see such a piano in a tiny village. But, I got to learn, and it brought me to a place that I have never imagined.” – Edy Panjaitan
